whole cloves
4 pieces of candied ginger
8 whole allspice
2 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 quart of orange juice
1 quart of apple cider
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
4 slices of orange
4 slices of lemon
Place first three items in cheesecloth and tie with a string so the
spices stay in the bag. Bring the water and sugar to a boil in a large
pot, stirring together. Add spice bag and cinnamon sticks. Cover pot
and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour in cider, orange juice and lemon juice.
Keep hot on a low fire. Float thin slices of orange and lemon and add
the butter.
